The process and timetable for the appointment of a new Team Rector and Area Dean

The procedure has now been clarified and the timetable agreed with the Archdeacon (Robin King), and the Patron, the Crown’s representative, Helen Dimmock.

A joint meeting of the PCCs of the nine parishes took place on 20th February to provide the legal response to the Notice of Vacancy and 18 Parish Representatives were elected. Rev'd Dr Caroline Currer has also been offered and accepted the the post of Team Vicar for Ashdon.

Work on the Parish Profile was completed at the end of February. Over 70 suggestions for amendments were received and have been taken into account in arriving at the final version.

The Steering group consists of Denis Tindley (St Mary's churchwarden), Judith Hasler (team facilitator) , Alex Jeewan (team vicar) and Clifford Want (publicity officer).

The advertisement and Parish Profile appeared on the Chelmsford Diocese website and our own website on 2nd March and appeared in the Church Times on the 6th and 13th March. It will be readvertised in the Church Times about a month before the revised closing date.

The new provisional closing date for applications is  Sunday 7th June with two days of visits and interviews provisionally planned for late June. This timetable will be reviewed again after Easter in the light of the conditions at that time.

This is a Lord Chancellor's appointment, but for an informal conversation about the post, or to request an application form, please do get in touch with Robin King, Archdeacon of Stansted email

Helen Dimmock, who is the Lord Chancellor's ecclesiastical secretary, will be visiting all the parishes prior to the interviews as well as being on the interview panel.

The Archdeacon will select the remainder of interview panel in consultation with Mrs Dimmock. There will be opportunities for representatives of each parish, clergy and lay, to meet the candidates and provide feedback to the Archdeacon.

Please continue to pray for the success of this process, for all those involved and for the candidates.

Members of the Steering group are happy to try to answer any questions you may have.
